The global streaming landscape continued to shift in July 2025, with telecom-led launches, regional expansions, and strategic platform consolidations shaping the market. Across Latin America, North America, Europe, Asia, and global markets, platforms adjusted through content aggregation, monetization updates, and brand repositioning to strengthen user engagement and business sustainability.
Here are the top highlights this month:
New Platforms
Alares Play (Brazil) – Telecom provider Alares debuts a multi-device streaming platform featuring movies, series, and kids’ content, aiming to solidify its digital entertainment footprint.
BBC NL+ (Netherlands) – BBC Studios Benelux introduces a new platform via KPN TV+ and NLZIET, offering curated BBC content, FAST channels, and live streaming, all localized with Dutch subtitles.
LancsTV (Global) – Lancashire Cricket launches a free service for global audiences, streaming non-televised matches and exclusive on-demand content, with additional features in a members-only section.
WETA+ (USA) – Public broadcaster WETA rolls out a free regional platform with live and on-demand PBS and WETA programming across five channels and 50 curated collections.

Product Updates & Feature Expansions
Amazon Freevee → Prime Video (USA) – Freevee will be sunset in August 2025, with its content migrating to a new “Watch for Free” section within Prime Video, eliminating the need for a subscription.
Amazon Prime Video (Netherlands) – From August 26, the platform will introduce ads, aligning the Dutch offering with the US, UK, and German markets while maintaining an ad-free tier.
Paramount+ (Global) – Following the FCC’s approval of Skydance Media’s $8B acquisition of Paramount Global, the new entity—informally dubbed “New Paramount”—will manage a consolidated portfolio including CBS, Pluto TV, and Paramount+.
Announced Platforms
Ligue 1 (France) – The French football league announces its own subscription platform, set to launch for the 2025-2026 season. Backed by LFP Media and CVC, the service will stream 8 out of 9 weekly matches for €14.99/month.
