Capturing Our Industry Journey
Highlights on the Road
From Panels to Canals: Fabric’s Memorable IBC 2025 Experience
What a whirlwind! IBC 2025 brought the world’s media, entertainment, and technology community together in Amsterdam for four unforgettable days of innovation, collaboration, and inspiration. With 43,858 visitors from 170 countries, the energy was electric — and Fabric was right in the middle of it all.
A Busy, Impactful Show
Our 13-person Fabric team packed in over 100 meetings during the show, plus numerous thought leadership engagements. We came to connect, share ideas, and learn — and IBC did not disappoint.
Before the event even began, our EVP of Global Business Development, Jean Abreu, joined the official IBC Spotlight Video Series. In her interview, Jean outlined what customers could expect to see from Fabric at the show and shared her perspective on where the industry is heading. She emphasized the disruptive power of AI, highlighting how it’s not just a trend but a force that’s reshaping the media supply chain and unlocking entirely new possibilities for customers. Her message set the tone for a week of future-focused conversations.
Taking Part in Industry Conversations
We were honored to have several of our leaders featured on panels and stages across IBC:
Kira Baca, Chief Strategy and Growth Officer, joined a powerful panel on Igniting Innovation: Women Leading the Future of AI, Cloud, and Media, hosted by AWS. Sharing the stage with Nikki Santoro (IMDb), Shari Reich (NVIDIA), Kathleen Barrett (Backlight), and moderated by Steph Lone (AWS), the session was packed with insight and inspiration. Hearing these female leaders discuss how they’re shaping the future of media and tech was nothing short of invigorating. (Include photo with correct logo)
Tom Gennari, Chief Data Officer, took the stage on the AWS & NVIDIA Innovation Stage alongside Becca Monahan (Official Charts Company) and Dustin Sullivan (SportsDataIO). Their panel, The Fan Experience: Energizing Engagement in Sports and Entertainment, explored how we’re collaborating to transform the fan journey — whether that’s on the field, on the screen, or across the streaming landscape.
Showcasing Fabric’s Innovation Story
Beyond the panels and networking, IBC was the perfect stage to spotlight how Fabric is accelerating innovation across the media supply chain — enhancing performance, unlocking new capabilities, and embedding AI at the core of every product.
In fact, Kira chatted with post Perspective during the show to share the product highlights Fabric was showcasing at IBC. From the AWS-powered leap forward in Xytech, to the evolution of Studio+, to the breakthrough launch of Origin Insights, Kira spotlighted how Fabric is driving clarity, efficiency, and innovation across the media supply chain. Her interview reinforced one of the biggest themes of the week: AI is now at the heart of everything we build.
Xytech — Now Powered by AWS
We announced the full migration of Xytech to AWS, bringing customers immediate gains in performance, reliability, and scalability. We also revealed our Next Generation UI initiative, designed to simplify and modernize the user experience. Perhaps most exciting, we previewed our AI Scheduling Prototype, developed in collaboration with AWS, which promises to bring intelligent automation to resource allocation and operational planning. Bottom line: things are getting better, fast.Studio+ — The Next Evolution of Studio
Our ongoing upgrade from Studio to Studio+ is well underway, with a roadmap to reach full parity by Q1 2026. Studio+ brings a cloud-native, AI-forward architecture, complete with industrial-grade APIs and deep integration with Origin and BB Media datasets, creating a truly unified metadata hub.Origin & Origin Insights — A Data Game-Changer
This year, we unveiled Origin Insights, our new NLP-driven query engine powered by BB Media’s global datasets. With natural-language questions like “What’s the content mix between HBO Max Spain and HBO Max Italy?” answered instantly with rich visualizations, Origin Insights redefines content analysis. With breadth spanning streaming availability, audience demand, catalog metadata, sports, certifications, and more, Origin continues to be the industry’s metadata hub, now strengthened by its ability to integrate and resell premium data sources unmatched in the market.
A Journey with Purpose
Some of our team traveled from London to Amsterdam aboard The Flint Green Line, a unique media industry networking initiative designed to connect professionals in a fun, low-carbon way. It was a perfect example of how our industry is embracing sustainability while building meaningful relationships.
The Fabric Boat: Innovation with a View
Of course, one of the most unique Fabric traditions is our boat meetings. Docked near “The Beach,” our boat became the perfect spot to step away from the busy show floor and have real, relaxed conversations with customers. And what better way to wrap up the week than with our customer happy hour aboard the boat, sponsored by our friends at AWS. We set sail through Amsterdam’s beautiful canals — a night filled with laughter, connection, and celebration of what’s ahead.
Closing Thoughts
IBC 2025 was more than just a trade show — it was a celebration of ideas, people, and the future of our industry. From exciting product innovations to unforgettable moments on the canals, the Fabric team left Amsterdam inspired, energized, and ready to keep shaping what’s next. Until our next adventure…
